Bicycles, or bikes, were introduced during the 19th century and have been growing in popularity ever since. Today there are more than a billion bicyclists worldwide.

In many parts of the world, bicycles have become the principle method of transportation though they are still a wonderful method of recreation in many regions throughout the world.

Today there are many different kinds of bikes including moutain bikes, utility bikes, cruiser bikes, touring bikes, road bikes, racing bikes, BMX bikes. Less common but still popular are the recumbent bikes and the folding bikes.

Where at one time there was only one or two manufacturers of bicycles, today we have a dizzying array of companies that make bikes of all different kinds.
